Sparkles ‘N’ Spirit dolls are made with simple sewing and glue. Many of the items needed to make these dolls are common components of a crafters “closet”. Clothing can frequently be made from quilter’s stash. Eighteen (18-) gauge wire is used for shapeable arms. Embellish with wool hair, ribbon, bells, and buttons.
The doll “stands” are built-in with clever use of covered wooden dowels for legs and shoe covered platform feet. You may choose to construct the legs, feet, and base yourself from easy instructions that are included in the pattern or purchase a “wood kit” that has been made especially for these dolls. Not all wood kits are the same. Each pattern specifies the appropriate wood kit stock number. Optional items for the dolls are:
Moda tea dyed muslin - The designer recommends Moda tea dyed muslin for bodies. We carry this fabric as a pre-packaged option in the doll section, or by the yard in Fabrics under Moda Muslin.
Wood Kits - All wood kits contain pre-cut and drilled wooden dowels for doll legs and small rectangular wooden pieces for doll feet (to be covered with cloth or fleece shoes). In addition, the WB-25 wood kit contains additional wooden parts made specifically for the Queen of Quilting doll.
Accessory Packs - Where available, accessory packs are a collection of hair and embellishment items that may be time consuming to gather – so we’ve done the work for you!
